YOUR FIRST VISIT.
Berkshire Boulders is for everyone. First timers. Lifers. Kids. Parents. Here's what you need to know to get started.
Climbers 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Step 01
GET YOUR PASS
Nothing needs to be booked ahead. You can sort this out at the front desk when you arrive.
Step 02
SIGN A PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT
Everyone who enters the climbing area needs a signed participant agreement. It takes about two minutes, and you only have to do it once.
Climbers under 18 need a parent or legal guardian to sign for them. Sign it online before your first visit and you'll skip the front desk line.
Sign the participant agreementBringing the family? Sign once and add each climber to the same agreement.
Step 03
TAKE THE INTRO CLASS
Optional, but it is the fastest way to get comfortable. You'll learn how to fall safely, how to read a route, and how to use the wall without guessing.
It's included in the Starter Pack, or you can book it on its own. We also run adult and youth programs through the week.

What is bouldering?
Bouldering is a type of climbing that’s easy to start if you have not climbed before. It is rock climbing stripped down to its pure essentials. You can jump right in, no hassle with ropes or required courses. The walls are up to fifteen feet high and outfitted with thick cushy pads below to keep you safe. Your challenge is to climb short but tricky bouldering “problems” (a route, or sequence of moves) using balance, technique, strength, and your brain.
The climbs are high enough to be exciting and challenging, but not so high that they become overly intimidating. Falling is perfectly OK and expected. That is what the thick pads are built for. With bouldering, it is just you, the wall, and your homies.
What to wear and what to bring?
We’ve got you covered. The only thing you need to boulder is a pair of climbing shoes and a chalk bag (to keep your hands dry). We rent both at the gym to those who don’t have their own. Just wear something comfortable to move around in and come on by.
What if I have never climbed before?
Every experienced climber started there. You don’t need experience or any special gear to get going. Just wear something comfortable and we will handle the rest, renting you climbing shoes and a chalk bag and giving you instruction and a tour of the facility when you arrive.
Can I bring my kids?
Yep! Berkshire Boulders is a climbing gym for kids and adults ages 7 and up. If you’re visiting with your kids, please keep them under direct supervision for the entire visit.
